Play jazz on piano
Jazz started as an improvised form of music and today it describes a variety of genres such as blues, ragtime, bebop, swing, latin, etc. Do you have a great interest in jazz and want to learn to play jazz on piano? Jazz piano course for beginners is for you if you are a beginner in jazz & blues but have played a little piano before. What distinguishes jazz musicians compared to musicians of the classical genre is above all improvisation. This course in jazz piano is a first step if you would like to experience freedom of improvising on piano. Improvisation, rhythmical stability and playing by ear are cornerstones of jazz and blues! During the course you will learn to play songs from the jazz and blues repertoire and immerse yourself in different genres within jazz. The basic course is also preparatory for you if you intend to play piano in a jazz group. Lessons are given individually or in small groups with 2-3 participants, there is no age limit.

Prior knowledge
- The basics of chords & harmony. For example, play triads and 7-chords with inversions: C - C7 - F - Dm - Bb
- Know the basic concepts of harmony, such as triads in major and minor.
What do we do during the course?
- We study different scales and different types of improvisation
- We learn to play 2-5-1 chord progressions such as Fmaj7, Bb13, Cm11
- We play "standard songs" from The Real Book (eg "All the things you are" or "Autumn Leaves")
- We learn to play different ,accompaniment models in swing and latin jazz
- We do a transcription of piano solo in a chosen jazz song
